HAWK-EYED Performance Art Inclusion Project facilitated by Dagmar I. Glausnitzer-Smith.

Collaboration Fay Burnett & Thomas Hoops

Nicosïa, Cyprus, August 2018

I worked with individuals who were differently abled to me, my experience of this was raw and humble - realizing a power of balance in creating collaboratively in this group. Where barriers arose through language and speech, we discovered true body language communication. Performing is a physical thing - from these individuals, I saw true intuition, instinct, pure movement and direct action. Nothing I had pre-learnt of performance art was taken for granted; I was tested to move in new ways and discovered a different territory of physical engagement with Thomas Hoops, for whom physical movement and speech was stunted. My new curiosity is to develop further the relationships planted last year, seeing where these collaborations can go, stretching further my own limits in relation to body&object, and live communicative skills. Today in a world of social pressure and border building, this work is hugely important as an inclusion project, involving people outside the standard norm of performance and the arts. It supports a non-discriminatory future, more
connected with each other. This project brings art out of the confines of the minority born-into-the-arts high class, and into lives of real people of the world, where with art we can learn, teach and share to a greater, deeper level.

The brown bottle is filling up by the drop from a dripping tap.

The clear bottle is half full of water, balanced on an upturned stool.

The green bottle is empty and sitting on top of a stool.

I explore a balance between the silence and sound of my blow, my whistle and the hum of the object.

The bottle was filling up drop by drop from Friday 12:57 noon until Saturday 11:20am.
